Project description
The tourist information and orientation system aims to facilitate orientation along the most important interregional and regional cycling and walking routes within the Hohenlohe-Tauber LEADER area. Addressing both cyclists and walkers, different types of signs will be developed, providing both directions and information.
Transinterpret became involved in this project before an application for funding was made. This allowed the original approach to be modified so as to include an additional concept for wayside panels. To support tourism, attractive panels are essential. Whilst signposts and maps are instrumental for guiding visitors between places, panels can provide additional background information or a short story on wayside objects. Done well, they are an entertaining means for highlighting the significance places and lending them additional emotional value.
Transinterpret developed three types of signs for the project and worked with the graphic designer to make sure the templates conformed to international Transinterpret standards.
Current state of the project
A catalogue with templates for signposts, orientation boards and wayside panels has been completed. The local communities are gradually implementing the orientation system.
