Project description
The former town hall of Buchenbach is literally a stone’s throw from the Jagst valley cycle route. Plans have now been drawn up to renovate the building and turn it into a visitor centre for the Central Jagst valley. Because of its location it is ideally placed to link up to the paths of silence. It will also encourage cyclists to explore the village of Buchenbach.
The local community began working with Transinterpret prior to applying for funding. A site visit confirmed the building was suitable for its new purpose. A steep hill behind the building will also be incorporated into the design since it offers spectacular views of the Jagst valley.
Accompanied by Transinterpret, the project team visited a relatively new visitor centre of comparable size. Subsequent evaluation of the permanent exhibition using the Transinterpret quality criteria provided valuable insights for the upcoming planning stage.
Transinterpret convened a start-up workshop and will accompany the conceptual phase by providing feedback on drafts.
Current state of the project
The conceptual phase began in March 2006.
